Summary for Gecko II Barricade Shooting Bag
Average Score: 5 (8 ratings)
The Gecko was the only bag that didn’t need to be held in place.

I have used the Gecko II for just about an entire season and I can tell you that it’s incredibly versatile, and I use it almost exclusively now for a support and rear bag.

Where it comes into it’s own is shooting from the bottom legs of tank traps, off of angled bars and from all parts of metal and plastic barrels (of course off of barricades, too). At a recent match it got some interest from shooters after I used it on a tank trap stage (only able to use the bottom of the tank trap legs). That was the only bag that didn’t need to be held in place.

The sticky nature of this bag allows me to free up the hand I would otherwise be using to hold the bag in place. It’s holding up well even after consistently using it on rough wood surfaces. I’m not trading this in for another barricade bag anytime soon!

The gecko II was solid on all types of terrain.

The gecko II was solid on all types of terrain. The positions in New Mexico were off all types of objects, trees, rocks, tank traps, prone. I used the Gecko as both a front support and rear bag and it was phenomenal.

No slipping on objects, gripped my MPA chassis held solid in all positions. Several pro shooters used my bag on a couple stages and were impressed with how the bag worked. On a long range stage to 1470 yards the whole squad used the gecko II as a rear support bag as all other bags were sliding around on the sandstone.

Great bag I want to add a support pillow to replace another pillow bag I use. The grip material truly makes a huge difference.

Let's get straight to the point

Let’s get straight to the point. You want a barricade bag to help with shooting from barricades, right? How about a bag that just does it all? Enter, the Gecko II.

I wanted this bag because it was different. I decided to take a gamble on a product that wasn’t all the rage. That gamble certainly paid off.

A rifle rests on barricade supported by a Gecko II barricade bag

It’s tough as nails, practical and extremely useful. The grippy texture keeps this thing in place, no mater what you put it on. I’ve put it on the side of a vertical 4×4 and placed the rifle on top of it while gripping the bag with my off hand. I’ve seen other shooters toss their bag onto a horizontal support and the bag just slips off because it’s unbalanced. With the Gecko, that isn’t a problem. It just stays where you put it.

It’s also replaced all of my rear bags. This thing is so versatile, it should be the only bag you ever need outside of a support pillow, which I plan to pick up next from Black Branch.

Black Branch deserves all the praise that they get, because they’ve earned it with a phenomenal product matched with above and beyond customer service. They’ve earned a customer for life.

I love my Gecko 2!

I’ve really been loving the Gecko 2 and I’ve shown it to lots of other competitors. I continue to use the Gecko 2 and sing its praises because I have found it to be a superior product. It conforms to objects and is easier to manipulate than other bags. [April 5,2019]

First off I’d like to say how much I love my gecko 2 shooting bag with the elite fill. I sold off my other “positional shooting bag” after using the gecko 2. To me the grip material and the elite fill make all the difference. [October 18, 2018]

Moose and Elk Hunt with Gecko II

A man uses a shooting bag to aim from a vehicle door frame while hunting in Canada,As far as the bag, I like it very much; it is pliable and light weight. We had it with us during hunting. Not light enough however to take on sheep hunts, but it was not meant for that. I don’t have any actual action photos because in the heat of the moment, taking pictures is not on your mind. I like the versatility of it. There are numerous heights/positions it can be deployed.

Example: In a kneeling position it works great to get more elevation by putting the bag between your elbow and your knee. This is helpful to get above tall vegetation.

I would classify this bag as a medium duty shooting bag most suitable for light to medium weight rifles.

I used the bag at the gun range with a heavy 50 BMG but it’s a strain on the bag. The stitching is pulled tight with guns like that.

Found an anti-slip surface very useful, however at around 20 deg F the cold temperature on windshield has an effect on the stickiness.

So all in all I found it a positive product. A few people played with it and liked it.

Most excellent service for sure.

Great Bag

I’m super new to PRS shooting and when attending a recent range day, I asked if anyone had a bag I could test drive for the day. A Gecko II was loaned to me and through the day of shooting, the bag sold itself. There was something about the Elite Fill that just seemed to nestle the rifle the perfect amount and keep it locked in position. Not everyone likes the feel of the Elite Fill, but if you like it, you love it. Running my first ever PRS barricade that day was almost too easy. I set the bag down, set the rifle on top of it, and nothing moved when I went to pull the trigger. I cleaned the barricade eight for eight multiple times. I think the biggest thing for me was when we had a little fun and shot at 850 yard steel off a standing barricade. The bag performed flawlessly, and I made good hits where I would’ve previously thought impossible. The design is completely thought out and the designer is always looking for feedback and ways to improve the product. I bought a Gecko II that same day, I didn’t even want to try any other bag.

We ordered the Gecko 2 Elite fill bag and could not be happier.

We ordered the Gecko 2 Elite fill bag and could not be happier. My daughter likes the regular fill and i recently ordered one for her on her 12th birthday. The elite fill is 100% worth the up charge and that’s not to say the regular feel isn’t awesome. The elite has a better feel to me and allows a bit more manipulation IMO. The grip on the Gecko, I believe , is what really sets it apart from competitors. I’ve put the bag on a car window and been able to nearly fully “load” the rifle and the bag not move. I wouldn’t have even been able to attempt that with my old competitors bag. When my Gecko 2 Elite fill was a a bit shy of the perfect feel for me , I contacted Mike by email and he sent a bit more to make the bag just right. Customer service, great product and knowledgeable folks are damn rare. When we have time, I will upload pics of Karsyn and I shooting a local match together with the Gecko 2.

Gecko II Elite

I really like the size and non slip material of Gecko II Elite. I have already used it at a rifle match. It gripped very well to various barricades, barrels, and farm gate. The feel of the bag with the Elite fill is great. The quality of the material and stitching is second to none. Customer service was superb! Shipped was really quick.

Being new to PRS & NRL22 I wasn’t sure what all I even needed

Being new to PRS and NRL22 series shooting I wasn’t sure what all I even needed, so I did a lot of research and ended up ordering a gecko II & an alpha bag.

The Alpha Shooting Bag view of Stick Fast Surface Technology with printed logoThe tacky material helped make up my mind. Love them both, especially the alpha pillow bag, great for filling voids, no buckles or anything to poke you, I actually use this a lot for a front bag.

Sometimes you need extra height, so turn it on it’s end. Or leave it flat strap it easily & quickly to your rifle and it’s a super steady front rest … it’s so wide the rifle is real steady on it. Need it off during a stage? Pull the Velcro straps & in about 2 seconds your rifles clean. And it’s extremely light.

Thinking of ordering a 2nd one for times when I need it as a front bag & a space bag.
